Xbox smartwatch

Microsoft had been internally testing a lot of innovative devices. From bezel-less Nokia Lumia Windows Phone to Surface Mini, Microsoft had a lot of devices planned for its hardware section. And it appears that the Redmond giant has also worked on a Xbox-branded smartwatch.

Today, the cancelled Xbox smartwatch has appeared online. The new leaked images have revealed the smartwatch design and we are finally getting a look at the cancelled smartwatch called the Xbox Watch.

The Xbox Watch was being developed back in 2013 and Microsoft had planned to launch the smartwatch in 2015 but it was later cancelled. This isn’t the first time that Microsoft baked a device and scuttled it for the sake of business.

The smartwatch features square 1.5-inch display (with touchscreen) and it also has a heart rate monitor. It seems to be a lot better than Microsoft Band and it has a unique design that could be customized through the replaceable band, we have seen a similar technology in a Surface Watch patent.

In 2014, Microsoft launched the fitness wearable under the ‘Band’ brand whereas the Xbox Watch was scheduled to be launched in 2015. It is highly unlikely that Microsoft cancelled the Xbox Watch for Microsoft Band 2 as both seems to be two good devices in their respective market.
