As we reported earlier, Microsoft and Amazon are working to integrate Cortana and Alexa on their respective platforms. This is a surprising partnership announced by Microsoft and Amazon. The partnership between the two big giants will counter Google’s Digital Assistant.

“The world is big and so multifaceted. There are going to be multiple successful intelligent agents, each with access to different sets of data and with different specialized skill areas. Together, their strengths will complement each other and provide customers with a richer and even more helpful experience,” said Jeff Bezos, Founder and CEO, Amazon. “It’s great for Echo owners to get easy access to Cortana.”

Microsoft’s Cortana and Amazon’s Alexa will soon interact with one another on Echo speakers and Windows 10 respectively. It brings Alexa to more than 400 million Windows 10 devices. Furthermore, as Cortana is available on Android and iOS, it will let the user tell Cortana to launch Amazon’s assistant.

“Ensuring Cortana is available for our customers everywhere and across any device is a key priority for us,” said Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft

While on other hand, Cortana will come to Echo speakers which also enjoys massive popularity. As Microsoft is a bit late to the game, it makes sense for the company to expand its Digital Assitant to more platform. Microsoft is also working with Harman Kardon to bring Cortana-powered Invoke speaker. What do you think about Microsoft and Amazon’s new partnership?
