We have seen multiple foldable phones such as the Galaxy Fold, but the dual-screen Surface Duo with Android 10 will offer a different solution to screen space portability.
Microsoft is officially returning to smartphone hardware industry with Surface Duo and the company is also pushing developers to prepare for dual-screen future. A leak has now revealed the spec sheet and camera quality of the dual-screen phone.
According to the specs sheet, Surface Duo will have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB of RAM, and more. Google’s Android 10 with Play Store comes out of the box, but Microsoft is apparently working on major software update and Android 11 support.

- Software: Android 10 with Microsoft Launcher.
- Processor: Snapdragon 855.
- GPU: Qualcomm Adreno 640.
- Display: Two 5.6 inch AMOLED screens with 401 ppi and 1800×1350 resolution.
- Memory: 6GB of RAM.
- Storage: 64GB and 256GB.
- Camera: 11MP with ƒ/2.0 and 1.12um.
- Battery: 3460mAh unremovable.
- Charging: USB-C fast charge.
- Other features: Gestures, Fingerprint, Surface Pen.
Surface Duo comes with mid-range specs and it’s going to include a Snapdragon 855 chipset and not Snapdragon 865, which is the latest flagship SoC from Qualcomm.
Microsoft also plans to offer the device with 6GB of RAM and you can either have 64GB or 256GB of unexpandable storage.
Surface Duo’s camera may be a disappointment to those who were expecting flagship-class performance. There’s a single 11MP camera on the right display of the device and it does not have a second camera.
The front camera will be used for both front and rear-facing photos, which means you’ll need to turn around the display for rear-facing photos.
The phone comes with two screens and displays themselves are AMOLED certified with a pixel density of 401.
Surface Duo will ship with a 3460mAh battery, which is not huge but it should be enough for a day on a single charge and normal usage. It’ll also support fast charging and USB-C, but we don’t know whether the device will ship with wireless charging or NFC capabilities.
Surface Duo is expected to launch in the second half of 2020.
