Microsoft seems to be fully committed to its Android Launcher, and today the company has released a new beta version of Microsoft Launcher for Android, and it comes with some exciting changes. The update advances Microsoft Launcher (Beta) to version 4.11, it adds support for Visual Search and more.

Microsoft Launcher 4.11 is also improving the family accounts settings. The software giant is finally allowing users to customize the family card. You will find an option to show and hide kids in the family card.

Microsoft Launcher is now more customizable and it can be also organized easily when having multiple cards configured.

In addition to customization improvements, the update also improves Cortana integration. Microsoft has added support for calling multi-turn SMS. It appears that you will be able to use Microsoft Launcher to send a text and let Cortana reply to further messages as part of the conversation. However, Microsoft hasn’t detailed as to how the feature works.

You can find the changelog below.

  • You can now show and hide kids in family card.
  • The news reading feature has been improved.
  • You can now hide page indicator on home screen
  • The UI of the settings page, welcome page, widgets or context menu has been improved.
  • You can now remove screens in overview mode via drag & drop.

As noted above, the big update for Microsoft’s Android Launcher is only available to beta users, and it’ll be rolled out to the public in the coming days or weeks.

Microsoft announced the visual search feature yesterday, and it allows users to search the web using their phone’s camera. Not just Launcher, but you can also use the Bing and Edge browser to perform a search by taking a pic of a landmark or object. To try the new visual search feature, all you would need to do is click on the small camera icon in the search bar and it’ll launch the visual search.

Microsoft is also bringing a new voice animation for voice search, and you’ll also notice a new UI on welcome and settings page. And last but not least, this version fixes some bugs and improves the overall performance of the app.
