Microsoft is currently working on fixing bugs for the Spring Creators Update (Redstone 4) which the company will be pushing out to the general public next month. The team is also working on the new Windows 10 update Redstone 5 which is expected sometime in September this year.

Microsoft has already informed that the new Redstone 5 Builds will not be coming with any new features since the company will mostly work on optimizing the performance of the Operating System before releasing any major features.

Keeping with the flow, the company today released a new Insider Preview Build 17627 for Skip Ahead Insiders. The latest build doesn’t come with any new features, but Microsoft has made sure to fix bugs before they start working on adding new features.

The only new features which has been released for Redstone 5 has been the “Sets” features which lets users to group apps into sets of tabs. In today’s build Microsoft has pushed out fixes for some earlier issues released in the previous build.

What’s Fixed

Microsoft has fixed issues when users try to open a file from OneDrive which was not downloaded earlier on the PC. The file resulted in crash to the OneDrive. Microsoft has finally fixed the crashing issue in the latest build.

The Emoji Panel for lot of users was not working after having downloaded last two preview builds. Having already known the issue, Microsoft made sure to fix the bug in the latest build and the Emoji Panel will now be working properly after you complete installation of the latest build.

As is always expected with a preview build, there are some known issues which Microsoft has jotted down in the changelog.

Known Issues

  • When you try to open Settings and click on any links to the Microsoft Store, it will result in the Settings to crash. The links includes themes and fonts and Windows Defender.
  • When opening .html or .pdf files from the local system by right-click>open, Microsoft Edge will not render the loaded content. As a work around Microsoft suggests to open the file again without closing Microsoft Edge.

The above known issues are expected to be fixed in an upcoming build for Redstone 5. The Insiders enrolled in the Skip Ahead option, are advised to have a look at the known issue before going ahead to download the new Insider Build 17627. You can download the build by going to Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update>Check for Update.
