Windows 10 Start

Microsoft recently published Windows 10’s January 2019 cumulative updates with various fixes and improvements. It looks like the software giant has started testing yet another update for Windows 10 version 1809 and it could be shipped later this month.

In the Release Preview Ring, the Windows 10 October 2018 Update is getting KB4476976 which brings up Build 17763.288. The company decided to release the update to the Insiders before pushing them to the public. After the October 2018 Update fiasco, Microsoft tests certain cumulative updates with Insiders to ensure the best experience.

The same update could be released to the production devices later this month or Build 17763.288 might actually be an early version of the second January 2019 cumulative release that may become available to everyone soon.

You can download and install the update if you’re part of the Release Preview ring. If you’re not signed up with the Insider program, there is no need to join the Release Preview Ring specifically to grab this update as similar changes will be shipped to everyone in mid-January.

It apparently makes sense for Microsoft to roll out these Windows 10 cumulative updates to Insiders before releasing them to the general public.

As noted above, Windows 10 October 2018 Update received a cumulative update earlier this week which fixed security issues with core components. It’s likely that 17763.288 or newer will become available soon for everyone with fixes.
