OEMs aren’t exactly speedy when it comes to rolling out Android update, on the other hand, Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities have been patched in supported Windows Phones. Microsoft is today rolling out a new cumulative update to supported versions of Windows 10 Mobile operating system.

The latest cumulative release is available for Windows Phones compatible with Windows 10 Mobile Fall Creators Update. The update advances the operating system to Build 15254.158 and it comes with no other changes.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft is also rolling out Spectre and Meltdown fixes for phones with Creators Update and Anniversary Update. Windows 10 Mobile Build 15254.158 includes the following changes.

  • Security updates to Microsoft Scripting Engine, Microsoft Edge, Windows Graphics, and Windows Kernel.

While Windows 10 Mobile is pretty much dead, the company has only recently acknowledged that it is committed to providing security updates until 2020. Despite Microsoft has no plans to ship new features or hardware for its mobile operating system, your Windows Phone’s security is top notch in comparison to Android.

Microsoft has already shipped emergency updates to Windows earlier this week. The fixes the Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities in chipsets from Intel, AMD, and ARM on Windows 10, 8.1 and 7 operating systems.
