Microsoft today released a new Cumulative Update for Windows 10 devices running Fall Creators Update. This update is available for users with Fall Creators Update installed on their PCs and Tablets. The latest Cumulative Update comes with version 16299.251.
The Cumulative Update comes with a minor fix along with some known issues as detailed in the release notes. The latest update brings fix for issue with USB devices and onboard device like built in laptop camera, keyboard which were not working after the previous update.
The issue occurred with users when the Windows Update skips installing the newer version of critical drivers in the cumulative update and also uninstall some active drivers. Microsoft having known the issue after feedback from Windows 10 users, decided to push out a fix for the issue and let users access the USB devices with built in keyboard, camera and more.
Along with the fix for the reported issue, the latest Cumulative Update also comes with some known issues which should be addressed by Microsoft in the upcoming Cumulative update. The known issues include the Windows Update reports KB4054517 fails to install, some devices fail to start after taking the latest Cumulative Update.
These are some of the issues which have been detailed in the changelog and Microsoft is working on fixing these issues. Till then the company recommends you to check your computer if its running the latest build after taking the update as the Windows Update might report that the build has failed to installed.
To check if you have been able to download the latest build you would need to click on Check for Updates to verify if there are any additional updates available. You can also type About your PC in the search box on the taskbar and verify if the latest version is installed on your device.
