After updating the Store app with Fluent design and new feature, Microsoft is now rolling out a new verison of Skype for Windows 10 Mobile and PC on the Insider Rings. The updated version of Skype is 12.8.480 and it adds a couple of new features on both Windows 10 Mobile and PC, while the Fluent Design and other important features are still missing.
Microsoft has also tweaked the UI of the Skype app, the personal profile option has been moved to the left side of the screen. The new features include the ability to mark all conversations as read and tag a person in group chat with @. Microsoft has also improved the pinned Skype logo on taskbar.
Apart from the above-mentioned changes, Microsoft has improved the overall performance of Skype app with bug fixes. As of right now, the update appears to be rolling out to the Windows Insiders on the Fast Ring and Release Preview Rings, and it can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store.
Microsoft recently confirmed that it plans to develop the UWP Skype app with all new features as the new Skype desktop will be only available for the older versions of Windows operation systems.
While Microsoft is committed to the UWP apps, you will still need to wait for a couple of weeks to get customizable themes and other changes from the new desktop app.
