Microsoft is updating the Windows 10 Photos app for the Creators Update devices. The new Photos has been already tested with the Windows Insiders and it is now rolling out to the general public. And yes, the best part is that the app is still being called Photos.
Microsoft Photos app has been updated to version 2017.39081.15820.0 with new features. The same update was rolled out to the Release Preview Ring Insiders and after receiving the positive feedback, it has been pushed to the non-Insiders.
The new Microsoft Photos app finally brings the Story Remix feature that uses Microsoft Graph technology to create stories by merging the photos and you will be soon able to add special effects and 3D objects. Another feature is the ability to search for photos by face, the smart scan basically groups all photos of a person together. For example, if you search for Joe Belfiore, you will see all the photos that contains Belfiore, thanks to the Microsoft’s AI technology.
The Story Remix still lacks features such as the ability to add 3D objects. Microsoft is however expected to add them before the Fall Creators Update release. Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is coming on October 17 and it brings major improvements to the operating system such as the Fluent Design.
