With the Build event just around the corner, Microsoft is busy publishing builds for all it devices. After releasing the usual meh build for Mobile, build 16188, jam packed with features is rolling out for PCs running Windows 10 in the fast ring.
Build 16188 contains a host of new features, ranging from new PDF functions in Edge to new security and Settings improvements. Firstly the PDF reader in Edge is getting a revamp with annotation and form filling support. Also the navigating in PDF files got a whole lot easier with Table of Contents and page layout feature.
Securing your PC also got better with Windows Defender Application Guard. Available only for Enterprise users, this feature allows you to run a new tab in Edge in an isolated container mode. Edge gets sandboxed here, so there’s virtually no chance of exploits or attacks. Other than that, Settings app gets a new Cortana Tab and the Magnifier settings gets a UI overhaul. Lastly, you get a new Ninjacat icon for the Windows Insider Program page in Settings. Pretty cool huh?
Every new build contains fixes and bugs, and Build 16188 is no different. There are a host of fixes for Windows Update notifications and Cortana. IME usage also got a few improvements. As for the broken stuff, there are a few serious ones. Outlook 2016 will not work and your PC might randomly hang now and then. Most importantly, non-English insider builds have the Recovery option broken, so users beware.
