The report from reliable sources suggests that Microsoft will take the wraps off a low-cost Surface model later this year. The FCC filing of the tablet also appeared online which revealed that the 10-inch Surface Tablet will come with a low-powered charger.

Anotherreport indicates that Microsoft has finalized the design and the device will be powered by Intel Kaby Lake and Gemini Lake processors.

The report from German site WinFuture claims that the new Surface model could feature a 10-inch display and Microsoft has specifically positioned it as a rival to Apple’s cheaper iPads.

The device will be based on Intel Pentium Gold (“Kaby Lake”) and Pentium Silver (“Gemini Lake”) processors instead of ARM chipset. It appears that there will be more than one variant of smaller Surface tablet.

The low-cost Surface would run full Windows 10 and offer Win32 app support. Microsoft is reportedly working on a new range of accessories, like cheaper keyboard, Type Covers and mouse as well.

Microsoft is believed to be working on multiple versions of the budget-friendly Surface tablet, including one with LTE support for on-the-go internet connection.
