Windows 10 Mobile has been discontinued, and some fans were hopeful, but that was until Microsoft killed off Windows 10 Mobile’s future as well as Continuum for Phones. There are still passionate Microsoft enthusiasts out there trying to revive Microsoft’s last Lumia handset.

Developers have already managed to hack Windows Phones to run Windows 10 ARM or RT, proving that the OS can work on a device with an older Snapdragon 810 processor.

Yesterday, we reported that a developer has managed to dual-boot Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile on Lumia 950 XL, and today we have discovered that yet another dev hacked the handset to boot not two, but four different operating systems.

Developer Gustave has managed to install a working version of Windows 10 ARM, Windows 10 IoT Core edition, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 Mobile on a Lumia handset. It was a herculean task but developer Gustave has successfully made four different operating systems run almost completely on an unknown Lumia handset.

Windows 10 ARM has been hacked to run on several Lumia handsets

The developer, Ben, on the other hand, has tried to make Windows 10 on ARM work on various devices, including the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL. Developers also managed to boot the unsupported Windows RT on handsets, like the Lumia 930.

The developers have also installed the Windows 10 ARM on the unreleased Lumia Hapanero (RX-130) prototype. Windows 10 ARM on Lumia RX-130 actually works better, as it’s almost fitting considering it was the device that reportedly supported Surface Pen.

Microsoft has discontinued Windows 10 Mobile

Microsoft is infamous for breaking hearts and crushing dreams. Microsoft unceremoniously snatched Windows 10 Mobile from the heaven of the fans, and while most of the users have migrated to other mobile platforms, there are some users still carrying the Lumia Windows Phone, and waiting for the mythical Microsoft Andromeda.

The work on new projects for Windows Phone started when a new version of WP Internals tool released last year that enabled unlocking the bootloader of certain Windows Phones. While Microsoft has discontinued Windows 10, it has, at least, not closed the doors just yet.

You’ll find some guides explaining the steps to install Windows 10 on ARM on the Lumia 950 XL but, suffice it to say, it’s simply impossible for the normal people.
