Microsoft is today updating the Photos app for Windows 10 PCs and Tablets with some new changes. The updated version of Microsoft Photos is 2017.39091.14210.0 and the update is being currently rolled out to the Windows Insiders on the Fast Ring with Skip Ahead enabled.

Microsoft has added import option to the top bar and the feature lets you import photos & videos saved on the internal storage to the app. However, it still lacks the ability to import the photos and video stored in other third-party application. Microsoft has also improved the ability to edit or hide the stories. Other changes include new 3D effects search bar and updated 3D effects.

Microsoft is also testing a new homepage layout, contacts section, improved search feature and new animations. The new interface will move the search bar to the left side of the screen and it will also display Collections, Creations, Albums and Folders separately, right below the search bar.

Powered by new AI technology, you will be soon able to know the people in photos and the artificial intelligence will identify people and show them in the new contacts section of the app, Microsoft has also integrated the People app into the Photos app to provide a better user experience. You may, however, require to edit the name of the people as the feature is still in early stage of development.

As of right now, the above-mentioned changes are still not visible for the Skip Ahead Insiders. Microsoft is, however soon going to update the Photos app with the new contacts section and improved interface.
