Windows 10 Build 17063 is finally rolling out to the Windows Insiders on the Fast Ring with a bunch of new features, improvements and a countless number of bug fixes. Windows 10 Build 17063 might be the last build this year since Microsoft engineers will be taking a small break.

Windows 10 Build 17063 finally introduces the much-awaited Windows Timeline feature. As we noted above, Windows 10 Build 17063 is being rolled out to the Fast Ring Insiders and for those who opted in to Skip Ahead.

Timeline

Windows 10 Build 17063 adds Timeline feature which would allow users to return to a moment of the day when specific apps and tools were running. This feature work across devices as it uses the power of cloud.

“Cortana is timeline aware on the iPhone serving up what the user was doing,” Belfiore explained at Build 2017 developer conference. “You can click a news reader link, and the news reader resumes from where it left off.”

“Timeline introduces a new way to resume past activities you started on this PC, other Windows PCs, and iOS/Android devices. Timeline enhances Task View, allowing you to switch between currently running apps and past activities,” Microsoft explains Timeline feature in a blog post.

Cortana

Microsoft is also improving Cortana with this preview release, the company revealed that Cortana is integrated into the Timeline feature, the digital assistant will help you stay productive by suggesting the activities you might want to resume. Cortana’s Notebook on Windows 10 is getting a new look, and the capabilities of the digital assistant have increased and Cortana now allows users to easily complete their tasks.

Microsoft has added ‘Organizer’ to content where you can access your lists and reminders, it also lets you customize Cortana. The other Cortana changes include:

  • Account entry point in the navigation menu.
  • Lists and Collections.
  • New music commands.
  • Tabbed view to cleanly segregate your content and configuration and single page to manage Cortana’s Skills and easy way to discover more.
  • Simplified configuration experience page with easy interest management.
  • This is a server side change currently rolling out for those using English (United States) and will be rolled out to other markets with time.

Sets

Microsoft is finally adding Sets feature to the operating system but it would be available to select Windows Insiders, as Microsoft is doing A/B testing. Sets brings tabbed interface to window, “Sets is to make sure that everything related to your task: relevant webpages, research documents, necessary files and applications, is connected and available to you in one click”, the company explains.

Fluent everywhere

Microsoft is also adding improved Fluent Design’s acrylic effect to Start and Action Center. The company is also bringing the “next wave of Shell UI to the party by applying acrylic to the taskbar, Share UI, Clock & Calendar flyout, Network flyout, Volume flyout, and Input flyout”.
