There are customers still using the outdated Windows Phone 8.1 and while Microsoft is no longer updating the OS with new features, the platform continues to function without any annoying issues.

It looks like both Windows 8.1 Windows Phone 8.1 Store is down and the users are reporting issues while downloading apps and games. Multiple threads on Reddit and tweets from frustrated users revealed that they are getting error 805a0193 while downloading the apps from Windows Phone 8.1 Store.

“I have error 805a0193. Don’t know what it means, tried different wi-fi networks, tried a bunch of scam videos online (please don’t send them to me). seems to load certain web pages on IE then others say there’s a DNS error? I’m so confused,” a user posted on Reddit.

In another thread, a user says that they are experiencing the same problem on Lumia 520 running Windows Phone 8.1.

The users have also documented the problem on Twitter. “I tweeted my complaints over 10hours ago and am yet to get a response. It’s close to 48hrs I have not been to download anything from my phone store. It’s keeps showing error code 805a0193. I have tried another network and even wifi but all to no avail,” a user said in a tweet.

By the looks of things, it’s been more than one day and the Windows Phone 8.1 Store is still broken with the error 805a0193. Microsoft hasn’t acknowledged the problem yet but the fix should be delivered soon as the software giant has no plans to discontinue the Windows Phone Store now.

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that it plans to stop distributing app updates to devices running Windows Phone 8.x on 1st July 2019. Microsoft will continue to accept updates for existing apps in the store from the developer but it won’t be pushed out to the handsets running Windows Phone 8.1.

You will be able to download the new app updates only if your device is on Windows 10. While Windows Phone 8.x app updates will end next year, Microsoft plans to stop distributing updates to the tablets and PCs running Windows 8 and 8.1 on July 21, 2023.

Update: The users are reporting that Windows 8.1 Store on PC is also experiencing issues.
