While you can easily crack an Android phone and install custom ROM, its tough nut to crack a mobile operating system like Microsoft’s Windows Phone/Windows 10 Mobile. After many months of development, XDA developer Heathcliff has finally announced a new version of Windows Phone Internals tool.
The new Windows Phone Internals 2.2 tool will allow you to unlock the bootloader of almost all Lumia devices. Once you have successfully unlocked the bootloader of your Lumia Windows Phone, you will be able to flash custom ROMs. For example, you may be able to install Android on your Windows Phone. And the possibilities here are endless!
The developer explains that the tool “brings custom ROM’s, Mass Storage Mode, Root access and many more hacks to all Windows Phone 8 and Windows 10 Mobile-based Lumia-models”.
For now, the developer has just announced the Windows Phone Internals 2.2. After he runs some final tests, the developer will release the tool “in a few day”, he writes on his blog. Since Windows Phone is dead, it’s next to impossible that Microsoft will now intervene.
The new suite of tools may finally open Windows Phone to a whole new enthusiasm and possibilities. Custom ROM for Lumia 620 has been around for a while now, soon every Windows Phone users will do the same, albeit in a more restrictive way.
