Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore recently promised to support the existing phones with bug fixes and security updates, and as the UWP is still alive, Microsoft is not planning to kill the Windows 10 Mobile Insider program. If you are a Windows Insider, you can still get the preview builds for Windows 10 Mobile.

This will not only allow the Insiders to get latest app updates on Windows 10 Mobile but also enables the path to upgrade the unsupported phones through the Fast Ring. Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc and Jason Howard have confirmed that Windows 10 Mobile Insider program is not going anywhere.

Windows 10 Mobile will continue to receive the new builds, most probably from the feature2 branch. As Belfiore clarified before, the new builds for Windows 10 Mobile won’t include any new features or major changes. Microsoft will support the mobile platform with bug fixes and improvements, till the end of 2019.

Microsoft will be however not releasing a lot of builds for Windows 10 Mobile as they used to do. It makes sense as Windows 10 Mobile features and hardware isn’t the company’s focus. “We’ll continue to support the platform.. bug fixes, security updates, etc. But building new features/hw aren’t the focus,” Belfiore said.

Microsoft will be releasing new features for Windows 10 Mobile enterprise, where the operating system is still popular. The company recently released the Fall Creators (feature2) Update for Windows 10 Mobile and you can learn more about the update here.
