Windows Latest didn’t expect Copilot to seep into Edge and Windows as much as we see today. But it is a reality now, and there are already several Copilot-powered features in the Edge apart from the built-in chatbot assistant in the sidebar. Microsoft is trying to integrate Copilot into the Crypto wallet.
In a recent Edge Canary build, Microsoft added a “msCryptoWalletCopilot” feature to the browser. Windows Latest tried running the Canary version of the browser and forcibly enabling the feature, but we could not spot any difference, which suggests the feature is still being worked on.
We expected Copilot to appear in the Wallet section of the browser in some form, such as helping you with finances or saved credentials. Sadly, nothing happened. Compared with the previous AI-related features coming to the Edge browser, adding Copilot to the Crypto section could be helpful in several ways.
It is also worth noting that the Crypto Wallet feature is also missing in Edge. Microsoft may be planning to add Crypto Wallet to Edge only when Copilot integration is ready, but why? There could be several reasons.
First, Crypto Wallet Copilot integration could give you a quick glance at important information, such as developments in the crypto market, new coins, etc.
Secondly, Copilot could offer portfolio analysis and management features. However, money is a sensitive topic, and analyzing and suggesting changes to the portfolio seems a long stretch for Microsoft’s Copilot.
Since last year, Microsoft has been secretly testing a Crypto wallet in the Wallet section of the Edge browser.
Crypto wallet in Edge
Windows Latest previously covered the possibility of installing Edge Wallet as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on your PC.
You could pin the app on the Taskbar or Start menu and access it without launching the Edge browser.
Edge Wallet section (Edge://wallet) has several features, including an option to manage your transactions, save your credit card information, and more. One of the upcoming features is full-fledged support for the Crypto wallet.
Last year, Windows Latest spotted several references to the new Crypto wallet in Edge, which would help you manage your cryptocurrencies.
While things haven’t materialized for the Crypto wallet in Egde, adding Copilot hints that Microsoft is working on it.
Note that Edge isn’t the first Chromium browser to offer this feature. Brave already has a crypto wallet and even added support for Bitcoin this year.
