Microsoft is reportedly preparing to release its own Apple AirPod competitor, the Surface Earbud. Surface Earbuds would compliment Microsoft’s move into the audio market with its Surface Headphones.

Microsoft’s Surface-branded Earbuds would compete with Apple AirPodsĀ in true Surface-style and it will have its own unique twist. Microsoft’s Surface Earbuds may feature a premium finish and it would be powered by the digital assistant Cortana.

According to a new report, the wireless Cortana-powered earbuds are designed to take on Apple’s AirPods and these new earphones would be obviously smaller than the Surface Headphones.

The buds are reportedly codenamed Morrison, butĀ product name or marketing tagline hasn’t yet been revealed. The technical details of the earphones are not known, but the report states that the support for noise cancellation is a possibility.

Cortana integration could significantlyĀ improve interactions between the earbuds and connected Windows 10 devices and smartphones.

Microsoft recently unveiled its own Surface-branded headphones and it certainly makes sense to compliment the headphones with a pair of premium earbuds.

Apple’s AirPods have been popular in wireless earbuds market and Microsoft could also get a piece of success by competing with Apple in the market with its own special features.
