Windows 11 on ARM isn’t designed for phones, but it won’t be coming to your Lumia officially. However, some devs have managed to crack the OS for Lumia phones, and Windows Latest spotted that it now supports the speaker. In other words, if you install Windows 11 ARM on a phone, it will now let you access the hardware speakers.

Windows 10 on ARM is a big deal, and it could also power the long-rumoured Microsoft Andromeda. When Microsoft announced that Windows 10 would also power the ARM devices other than the Windows Phones, the enthusiasts hoped that the operating system would get ported to the current lineup of Lumia phones.

Windows 10 ARM seems to be the future of computing on mobile-type devices, but unfortunately, those who own a Windows 10 Mobile device right now won’t be getting any big update.

Speakers and cellular connectivity come to Windows on ARM for Lumia

Windows 10 ARM on Lumia phone already supports WiFi and touchscreen. Today, developer Gustave has confirmed in a post on Twitter that the Windows 10 ARM on a Lumia Windows Phone project is advancing, and it also supports speaker. It appears that the developer has also managed to enable support for cellular connectivity.

Windows 10 ARM on Lumia project is slowly getting better with every passing week, but it’s still not feasible for day to day activities.

It’s clear that the Windows 10 Mobile operating system will not get new features in the future, and while Microsoft is reportedly working on a new version of Windows 10 that should bring some major improvements, these changes will be exclusive to next-generation devices, and it won’t be released for existing handsets.
