PlayStation Portable Simulator Suitable for Playing Portably abbreviated as PPSSPP is an open-source PSP emulator which is available on all platforms including Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS, Blackberry OS and even Symbian OS. It allows users to sideload and play PSP games on any device running on the above-mentioned platforms. PPSSPP has been available for Windows 10 Mobile for some time now but its dynamic recompiler for Windows 10 Mobile didn’t work. This was because some functions which were required by the dynamic recompiler went missing on Universal Windows Platform for ARM processors probably due to a bug.

The developer has now provided with a fix to the emulator’s dynarec (dynamic recompiler). Dynamic recompilation is a technique that emulators use to make the CPU emulation much faster. Don’t let the name fool you as nothing is being recompiled here, it is only being translated.

Even as the dynarec for PPSSPP has been fixed for Windows 10 Mobile, don’t expect a super smooth experience as there are still a few bugs and we cannot expect to see more bug fixes anytime soon. Nonetheless, this is the most stable version that Windows 10 Mobile has seen.

PPSSPP is not available in the Microsoft Store as Microsoft has banned game emulators from the Microsoft Store. Apple has also banned game emulator apps from the App Store. As of now, Android is the only mobile platform that still supports game emulators.

How to install PPSSPP?

Since PPSSPP is not available in the Microsoft Store, the only option is to sideload the app. To do this, open Settings, open Update and Security, Select For Developers, enable Developer Mode.

Then, scroll down and go to Device Portal and Turn on remote diagnostics. Then you can enable Authentication to get the IP based URL to access the system.

Open the URL from the browser on your PC. To get the password, turn on Device Discovery and use the password which will be shown. Turn on Remember This PC option.

Download PPSSPP on your PC from here

  • Go to apps section.
  • Upload the PPSSPP using the uploader and then click on Deploy.
  • The app will be installed on your phone.
  • To run the app, click on start after selecting PPSSPP from the drop-down menu.

Keep in mind that this version of PPSSPP is a preview version so there will be bugs.
