Microsoft is working on a Modern Keyboard which has received it’s FCC verification on 9th March 2017. This new modern keyboard is a wireless one. According to the documentation on the certification page of the keyboard, there is a wired mode also which allows it to be connected to PC via USB cable. It will also be having a rechargeable battery rather than having AA cells.

But now according to the Bluetooth certification document of the new modern keyboard there is a mention of the fingerprint reader on the keyboard. The device now had a name “Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID”.

The device can be used to login to any version of windows os after you have the windows hello connected to the fingerprint reader of keyboard. We may see this keyboard being launched at the Microsoft Shanghai hardware event scheduled on May 23.

Where Microsoft is also expected to announce new surface hardware upgrades over the previous generation of surface which were launched in Oct 2015. Microsoft already has a good number of peripherals like keyboard and mouse for their surface studio and any other PC and this one with Fingerprint really ups the ante. we will let you know more about it once we get more info on it.
