Windows Insiders rejoice! Microsoft has just released build 16170 for Insiders on the fast ring. This build, from the Redstone 3 branch, is currently rolling out for users on PC only.

This build marks the start of the Redstone 3 builds from Microsoft and as we predicted, it arrived even before Creators Update has completed rolling out. However this update contains no new features and focuses on improving the OneCore for the future builds.

The changelog is pretty short and there are some bug fixes for Cortana and High DPI settings. The share icon has also been updated in the File Explorer and Night Light has got a bit improved. On the list of known issues, Narrator won’t work and the usual Game Bar flashing bug has make a comeback. Most of the bugs are not deal breaking but Microsoft warns that there may be more issues and insiders should tread with care.

Redstone 3 is supposed to introduce major new features for both Mobile and PC. The most interesting one of them is Project NEON, which will overhaul the entire Windows 10 UI. For Mobile, there are planned improvements for Continuum and more new features are planned. Though this sounds a little depressing, we are hearing that Redstone 3 will be the last update for Windows Phone.

The build is now rolling out and if you happen to be a fast ring insider who likes to live on the edge, you can grab it on your PC.
