Microsoft is expected to begin the rollout of Windows 10 version 1803 in the coming weeks, but the company is yet to finalize a name for the next version of Windows. Windows 10 Redstone 4 is undergoing several last-minute changes, including a new RTM build forced by BSOD errors. By the looks of things, Redstone 4 could be launched as Windows 10 April 2018 Update.

Microsoft enthusiast Walking Cat has discovered some evidence which suggests that Redstone 4 could be called Windows 10 April 2018 Update. It’s likely that Microsoft is not interested in the Creators Update moniker due to some unknown reasons or the criticism. The name change is however almost confirmed.

It appears that the Microsoft itself hinted earlier this year that Windows 10 April 2018 Update could be the name of version 1803. Needless to say, this moniker is nowhere close to being called good but it makes more sense than Windows 10 ‘Spring Creators Update’. In 2017, Microsoft released two versions of Windows 10 called ‘Creators Update and ‘Fall Creators Update’, version 1803 (Redstone 4) would have become the third Creators Update after the original one.

It is worth noting that Microsoft hasn’t yet announced the name and release date of the new Windows 10 feature update projected to arrive this month. The release date of next update depends on the performance of Windows 10 Build 17134 released yesterday to the Windows Insiders.

As the company continues working on finalizing the RTM build, we are not sure as to when the name of next Windows 10 update will be announced. Windows 10 April 2018 Update isn’t really the best name that Microsoft could have picked for the operating system. In the past few years, Microsoft has mostly picked up uncool names for its projects.

Windows 10 Build 17134 was published yesterday with bug fixes and improvements. As this is a new build for Windows 10, Microsoft needs to test it with all Windows Insiders before rolling it out to the general public. By the looks of things, the build could be promoted to more Insiders by early next week, but the release of Windows 10 April 2018 Update in this month is still uncertain.

The rollout is expected to happen by the end of the month as Microsoft is committed to the original sehdule, needless to say, the decision depends on the feedback and last-minute bugs. More information about the Windows 10 version 1803 release date and name should surface early next week.
