Microsoft has confirmed that the company is aware of a bug where the Windows Insiders are getting “reverted Insiders settings” notification on Windows 10 machines. Both Skip Ahead and Fast Ring Insiders are receiving notification warning them that they have been removed from the Insider Rings, i.e the Insider Settings have been reverted.

The issue appears to be affecting both Skip Ahead and Fast Ring Insiders. The affected machines received an error notification: “Your Windows Insider Program content settings have been reverted. We did this because you selected Skip Ahead, but Skip Ahead is now closed. You’ll continue to receive updates as usual,” the error message reads.

Microsoft hasn’t confirmed whether or not the Insiders are actually being kicked out of the Skip Ahead ring. Windows Insider Program Chief Dona Sarkar has acknowledged the issue and confirmed that Microsoft is actively investigating the bug.

“Windows Insiders who are getting a strange “reverted Insiders settings” notification: I’m looking into it. Back with news soon, ” Dona Sarkar, Windows Insider Program Chief at Microsoft tweeted.

Microsoft has also revealed that there’s yet another bug that blocks installation of Insider builds on some machines, this is because of some internal issues at Microsoft where Insiders cannot install the latest preview builds. “We’ve received reports of users hitting error code 80096004 when attempting to install a build via Windows Update. We kicked off our investigation process and have information to share,” Microsoft’s Jason confirmed in a blog post.
