Microsoft is dropping support for Windows 7 in 2020 and apparently, the company wants users to make the shift from Windows 7 to 10 soon. On August 1, Microsoft published a new video titled “Windows 7 and Office 2010 End of Support” on YouTube to promote the features of Windows 10 and recommend users to make the shift.

“Make the shift from Windows 7 and Office 2010 to Windows 10 and Office 365,” the description of the YouTube video reads. The video basically reminds Windows 7 users that the support for their favourite operating system is ending soon and it’s time to move on.

“Support for Windows 7 will end on January 14, 2020. Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for devices running Windows 7 operating systems. That’s why it’s time to make the shift to Windows 10 today,” the support page reads.

Windows 7 remains the most popular desktop OS to browse the web worldwide according to NetMarketShare but Windows 10 is slowly catching up and it’s likely that the platform will overtake Windows 7 soon.
