Microsoft recently released Windows 10 April 2018 Update and cumulative update with fixes but some users claim that the update is causing a black screen when booting up the PCs. It is worth noting that not everyone is seeing this problem but the number of systems impacted by the issue has grown significantly in the last few weeks.

It’s quite easy to recover a broken PC as the users would just need to boot the PC into safe mode and try uninstalling the update. Restoring the system back to the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update also appears to be working in most of the cases.

It appears that apps such as IObit Advance System Care could be the culprit. Some users on Microsoft Community forum claims that a compatibility issue between Windows 10 version 1803 patch and IObit (Advanced System Care) app is causing a black screen on some computers.

Arden White, Senior Program Manager, Windows Servicing and Delivery told us Microsoft is already aware of the issue with IObit Advanced System Care and they are addressing it.

It’s not yet known when a fix could land but it’s likely that Microsoft will address all the compatibility issues in Windows 10 April 2018 Update next month, probably on next Patch that takes place on June 12. And obviously, only a small number of PCs are experiencing such issues.

There are few critical bugs in Windows 10 April 2018 Update, though none of them appears to be widespread. The users are always recommended to update the software and apps before installing any Windows 10 version.

The next cumulative update for Windows 10 April 2018 Update is also likely to fix other unreported bugs and improve the overall performance of the operating system.

For those who don’t know, IObit Advanced System Care is one of the decent solutions to speed up Windows PCs, and it’s quite popular among the users.

Well my computer doesn’t have IOBIT and it has the problem, so there must be another underlying cause………

    • Mayank Parmar

There’s indeed. Microsoft is investigating, and the fix is coming real soon.

      • JoeJags

Figured as much……thanks a lot, and waiting on the fix…….it wouldn’t even factory reset.

I would start by disabling all the 3rd party applications at startup and see if the issue keeps happening after that – then uninstall any anti-virus or security software and test it then. Problems like these are almost always caused by 3rd party applications or a bad driver – like Intel drivers – video drivers.

The update deleted my user files and folders….. couldn’t restore it back with any recovery software..

Just disable windows updates by installing windows XP… Microsoft is making this worse than it was a few years back!!!

That’s not wise Unless your device is completely off the web
it would be first in line to be attacked by a bigger ransomware attack
and if you have a pro addition you can always defer it For a few months or year
while things are patched by cumulative updates

The black screen problem can be fixed by installing the latest gpu driver. After trying many other ways I found this and it worked. In addition to this problem even the Taskbar refuses to function.

I recommend all of you guys to not use iobit advance system care , it always creates problem and at last you get no option to repair your pc and have to format it!!
i have been trying this software from very long time and in many systems but each and every system gets a new issue and i am pretty sure the culprit is this software….!!
All the other softwares of iobit are pretty good like iobit booster etc but this one is not good!
    Problems I faced:
    * windows can’t load to login screen
    * windows crashes
    * hardwares get issues like, mouse not working, keyboard not working etc.
    * Start menu does not open.
    * Slow system reponse after bootup
    and much more!

are you sure? For me, I’ve been using this software for a long time too and I think it helps so much in giving my pc and laptops the best performance. I have not faced with any of the issues you’ve stated but I think it could be the problem.

IObit advance system care is a popular and decent solution. Maybe it’s not compatible with your hardware or apps. Happens.
