Microsoft at its Ignite 2018 conference revealed that it is working on a new Windows Insider app. It would be a Progressive Web App that will work on all platforms.

The Windows Insider PWA could be launched with a Dark Mode which would be the default theme. The new Windows Insider app will provide users with all the necessary and related content to the Insider program like blog posts, podcasts and more.

Microsoft is planning to add some new sections to the Insider app where users will be able to get information about builds flighted to Insiders along with providing info about the users’ self-activity in the program.

There could also be an integration with Microsoft Teams included in the Windows Insider app so that the users can communicate easily. As it’s going to be a Progressive Web App, users will be able to access it from any device and stay in touch with the community.

We also learned that the Windows Insider app will be an open sourced platform which would allow other developers to learn how Microsoft created it.

Microsoft hasn’t provided any timeframe as to when the app will be made available but since it’s in an advanced development stage, we expect it to be coming sooner rather than later.
