WhatsApp team has been working on bringing new features for its Windows Phone application to bring it on par with iOS and Android. The latest update comes with the most awaited feature for Windows Phone which has been available for last 7 months on both iOS and Android.

The WhatsApp team finally released the most awaited “Live Location” feature for Beta testers on Windows Phone. The new update pushes the app to version 2.18.106.0. With the new Live Location feature users will now be able to share their location in real time with their friends and families.

You can share your Live Location in chats and groups. You can do so by opening a chat and tap the Attach icon, Location and select Live Location. You will be able to share the Live Location for a specific time like 5 mins, 15 mins or more.

Once shared, users also have the option to stop sharing the Live Location at any point of time if they wish to not share the location anymore. Users will be seeing a new bubble in the chat which gives them the option to stop sharing the Live Location.

If the Live Location has been shared with many chats and groups and users would like to stop sharing it, then WhatsApp allows users with the option to stop sharing the Live Location by going to Settings, Account and Privacy, Live Location.

Users might think that sharing a Live Location will affect their privacy, to make sure that the Live Location does not affect the privacy of users, WhatsApp has made sure that sharing of the Live Location is secured with end to end encryption, meaning that the Live Location will be seen only by you and the recipient, even WhatsApp cannot see your Live Location.

The Live Location was the most awaited feature for Windows Phone users and has finally arrived in the Beta Application. After successful testing, we expect the team to push out the feature for all Windows Phone users in the coming days.

The latest update for WhatsApp Beta is currently rolling out and you can download it by going to Microsoft Store.
