Pre-orders for the HP Envy X2 originally began in the last week of February. However, the stocks were limited and the pre-orders closed soon. Now, pre-orders have once again begun and the shipment will begin on 8th May 2018.

HP announced the Envy X2 back in December 2017 at the Qualcomm tech summit. It was one of the first devices to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. It runs on Windows 10 for ARM which is essentially Windows 10 which has been completely emulated to run on ARM processors. These PCs running on ARM processors are collectively called as Always Connected PCs.

The main highlight of the HP Envy X2 is its processor. The Snapdragon 835 is now 1 year old and is not the most powerful mobile chipset out there. But it is still powerful enough for enterprise users. It has an Adreno 540 Graphics Processing Unit which is integrated into the SoC. It isn’t suitable for hardcore gaming but it doesn’t matter as this machine is not meant for gaming. It is a premium device though, built exclusively for users who want network connectivity wherever they go and also need extremely good battery life. Both of these are provided by the HP Envy X2.

It comes with a 12.3″ IPS LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1280. It has 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and a 128GB SSD for storage for the base variant. It has a 3-cell, 49.33 Wh Li-ion battery which is enough to provide a battery life of 22 hours. Real-world usage will vary though. It has a 5MP front-facing camera and a 13 MP rear-facing camera.

It comes with Windows 10 S out of the box but can upgrade to Windows 10 Pro anytime you want. It has a USB 3.1 Type-C port Gen1 port, a micro SD card slot, a headphone jack and most importantly a nano-SIM card slot to remain always connected.

It looks like a premium, well built convertible laptop with the magnetically attachable keyboard. It is thinner and lighter than the Surface Pro. If you are looking to buy a premium tablet or a convertible and your priorities include seamless connectivity and great battery life then the HP Envy X2 is the one for you. Click here to preorder.
