Trekstor recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to collect fund for the WinPhone 5.0 Windows 10 smartphone. The original value of the Trekstor’s Windows Phone is €249 but as part of the Black Friday sale, you can back the device for just €209 on Indiegogo. So far around 235 backers have raised €44,092 for “keeping Windows Mobile alive and kicking”.
While Windows Phone is dead for Microsoft, there are many companies out there who still support the Microsoft’s mobile platform and believes that the Windows Phone platform still has a chance to succeed. Trekstor is of such companies who want to launch a new Windows 10 Mobile device in 2018, but the company needs your help to collect fund for its new phone.
Trekstor officially announced the WinPhone 5.0 earlier this year with no intention to bring it to the market. However, the company later decided to publicly launch the Windows Phone and hopes to raise 500,000 Euro and start mass production. It seems impossible for the company to reach the 500,000 Euro goal, as so far it has raised just €44,092.
The WinPhone 5.0 features a 5.0-inch display and the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core CPU with 1.5 GHz clock speed. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, with support for 64GB microSD card.
The device comes with a 13-megapixel rear unit with dual flash and 5-megapixel selfie camera. The other specs include 2250 mAh battery and support for Windows 10’s Continuum feature. Only if the crowdfunding is successful, the Windows Phone will hit the market in March 2018.
