Microsoft today announced that it is bringing its Digital Assistant Cortana to Skype for Android and iOS users. The availability of Cortana will be making it easy for Skype users to have more conversations with useful suggestions and information like restaurants and more within the Skype chat.

Cortana will be suggesting smart replies while chatting on Skype with your contacts which will pop up above the text box. The Digital Assistant will also create reminders for users who are planning to schedule events and other activities. Cortana as a separate contact does not support Video or Voice calls.

Cortana will be made available as a separate contact and users will also be able to have a one on one conversation with Cortana similar to chatting with Skype bots. Once you receive the new Skype update users would need to enable Cortana in Skype by going to Cortana from your chat screen and select Agree.

Users will not have an option to Remove Cortana from the Contacts but can unpin the recent Cortana chats by tapping and holding and selecting Unpin chat. Suggestions from Cortana can also be turned off by going to Settings>Cortana>Toggling the switch off.

Cortana in Skype is gradually rolling out starting today for both iOS and Android users and is currently only available in the US. Based on the feedback and performance the company plans to roll out Cortana in Skype for other regions very soon. scrolling down, tapping on Cortana, and toggling the switch off.
