Microsoft is today releasing a new set of Firmware Updates for its Surface Pro 4 devices. The details of the Firmware update are available on the Surface Update History Page. The latest Firmware Update includes support for New Type Covers.

Below is the full changelog:

  • Surface Fingerprint Sensor – Biometric device 2.2.11.0: Enables support for Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
  • Surface PTP Filter – HID: 1.0.173.1 Enables support for Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
  • Surface Pro Type Cover Integration – HID 1.0.2.0: Enables support for Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.
  • Surface Smart Cover Backlight – System device 3.0.0.0: Enables support for Surface Pro Type Cover and the Surface Pro Signature Type Covers.

The Firmware update was made available on September 14th and should be available for all Surface Pro 4 users. The Firmware Update is meant to improve compatibility of the device without affecting the device performance, connectivity and battery life.

The latest Firmware update are currently rolling out and Surface pro 4 users can get them by going to Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update>Check for Updates. The updates are available for users with Anniversary Update or later versions of the Windows 10 Operating System.
