Microsoft will be laying off around 3000 employees’ from their sales division as a result of their reorganisation. Microsoft will be reorganising it’s sales now for improving their position into cloud-services product. According to CNBC, these layoffs amounts to nearly 10% of sales division staff and 75% of those will be outside U.S. Microsoft cloud service Azure has seen a rapid progress in last 2 years. Even Microsoft shares have been on an all time high for the last few months because of their new strategies on cloud services and mobile division restructuring.

Microsoft has laid off employees in several rounds in the past after Nokia’s acquisition, Company welcomed 25,000 employees. But then Microsoft let go 18,000 employees and 7,800 of them did belong to the Mobile business after failing to improve their to Smartphone market. Further, Microsoft also writ off $950 million for the acquisition.

Satya Nadella has been able to change the old Microsoft’s direction after several strategic decisions like these. Now Microsoft main objective will be to catch Amazon’ AWS in the cloud services market where they are currently 2nd. Microsoft has been kept in the leaders category in the magic quadrant for the cloud services as we had earlier reported.
