Microsoft has been adding new features to their office online suite regularly. A few months ago they had introduced a new office online experience by changing the UI of the website. While now Microsoft has announced that OneDrive online will now allow you to preview the Word (.doc or .docx) and Powerpoint (.ppt) files in an inbuilt viewer. This is a really good change as earlier you had to open the file in Word Online and Powerpoint Online website which would load up very slowly. The preview functionality on Word and Powerpoint files would give a preview of pages and if you want to edit it further you can click on edit to go to office online.

Microsoft has started rolling out this service to selected consumers first which will be later released to all Public. Well, this is a nice little feature that Microsoft has added to their online suite of services. Office online also allows users to chat with their friends while working using the built-in Skype experience. There is an Edge extension also available on Windows Store called “Office Online for Microdot edge” which you can download from the Windows Store here.
