Microsoft earlier revealed that it is working on a new smart speaker which is powered by its Digital Assistant Cortana in partnership with Harman Kardon. The company had said that it plans to release the smart speaker some time in the year 2017.
Earlier reports confirmed that the Smart Speaker the company is working on will be named as “Invoke” and will include Skype Integration for Voice Call support. To test the Invoke feature Microsoft has released an update to its Cortana app on Android for some users which brings a new Devices Section that offers unexpected insights into Invoke.
With the latest Android update the company has confirmed the name as Invoke and also reveal that the speaker will connect to a vast range of music services which will include Microsoft’s Groove, Pandora, TuneIn along with Spotify also.
The Cortana update is currently available for a few select users since the company is trying to test and fix issues with the User Interface along with more accurate descriptions for each service.
Currently we are not sure about the exact date of the launch of the Device and its Pricing but we are likely to get more details about Microsoft’s plans to support Cortana on speaker styled devices at its Build conference next month.
