New reports suggest that Samsung and LG are currently working on a new display that is curved on all 4 sides. This will make it possible for users to have a smartphone that only has a display on the front with a screen to body ration of more than 98%.
Currently there is no time frame when the Smartphones will arrive. However there are major issue since it doesn’t allow touch inputs on the corners of the display. If in case the companies decide to make the phone with the four sided curved display they would be facing a issue with the front facing camera since the 4 sided curved display might not have any space for the Front Facing Camera.
It would be interesting to see whether the devices will actually see the light of the day since the Lamination process will be a major issue in the development of the four sided curved display smartphone.
