Facebook is working on releasing new features to its Official Messenger App for all platforms. The company is today rolling out emoji based reactions and @Mentions to its Official Messenger App. The above new features are currently rolling out for iOS and Android and should be available for Windows Phone very soon.

With the new message reactions, users will be able to express how you feel about a particular message posted on Messenger . This option is similar to the Message reactions available on the Official Facebook App. You would need to long press and hold any message then select the relevant emoji’s like love, smile, sad etc to pin to it. This is similar to add reactions to a facebook post.

The other new feature is @Mentions which is potentially useful when you have to address a particular person in large groups. All you have to do is use the “@” symbol followed by the person’s name and the particular person will receive the notifications without letting other members know in the group.

The @Mention feature is already available for another Facebook Owned company WhatsApp and which has been a very successful feature used by many on WhatsApp. As mentioned above these two features are currently rolling out and should be available for iOS and Android users but Windows 10 users would need to wait for some more time before the feature is available.

If you are not having the Facebook Messenger app for Windows, you can alternatively download the app by clicking the below link. Do let us know if any of our Windows users have received the new features for us to update in the article.
