Telegram Founder and CEO Paul Durov in a tweet confirmed that its App will be getting the option of audio calls and possibly video calls will be coming to the popular messaging app. Telegram though has currently not announced the date as to when the functionality will make its way to the app.

The other option Custom Themes which the company released to its Desktop app is also expected to land on the Mobile version very soon. This was also confirmed by the Founder Durov in a reply to one of the user via his official twitter account.

Telegram had developed voice calling technology some time ago. In a tweet posted in April 24th, 2015, Telegram said:

“We developed the encrypted voice calling technology some time ago, but we don’t see it as a priority for Telegram right now.”

Currently the launch of voice calling may not be too far off as of now. The Telegram 3.16 beta actually comes with hidden call functionality, so now it could just be a matter of time that Telegram might bring the audio calling in one of its upcoming releases.
