Dr.Maki Sugimoto a famous Japanese Surgeon with his team has performed a robotic prostatectomy surgery for prostatic cancer by using HoloLens. The Doctor has posted a video showing him and his team using the HoloLens while performing the robotic surgery.

The Doctor was successful in safely removing the tumour by using the headset to visualize patient specific 3D anatomical model.  Dr. Sugimoto confirmed that this is the first of its kind surgery performed by him and his team in December 2016.

Dr.Sugimoto is also developing a patient based educational simulation system using HoloLens which will help in minimal invasive surgery and ensuring patients are fully informed of the procedure the patients are about to undergo.
