Someday back in May 2016, Twitter made a major announcement following users’ complains about the media (like pics, gifs and videos) links counting in the 140 character limit.

As of today, media attachments links will not count anymore in the 140 character limit. The major update is live now, so you can try uploading a picture and use the full character limit to caption the media attached. Anyway, Twitter also promised that an “Edit” button will arrive someday in 2016. Well, just sit back and relax waiting for it
