Yesterday, when I was using Mail – my computer got frozen. It didn’t respond to any activity. So I’ve restarted it. After system was back alive – I’ve couldn’t launch my Mail app when it was needed (surprisingly – Calendar app was working perfectly fine). I was looking for solution pretty long time! So I’ve made this small tutorial to help you, if you’ll ever have same problem (hopefully not).
In Windows 10, some of pre-installed apps cannot be deleted just by right-click – thanks for that it’s getting pretty hard, to fix them if they broke. Today we will take for example Mail & Calendar app.
- In search box type “Windows PowerShell”, right-click on first result and click on “Run as Administrator”
- In PowerShell type this command and hit enter:
get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage
3. Wait until it’s done (if it’ll stuck longer than 5 minutes – try to restart your computer.
4. Go to Store and download Mail & Calendar app. You can also click here to jump into store.
Now you can go and set everything up! You can also use this tutorial to fix, or even delete apps all other apps, like Edge if you don’t want it. To do it, you have to change name between asterisks, for example:
To get apps names, simply type this command:
Get-AppxPackage | Select Name, PackageFullName
That’s everything in this tutorial! Now go and uninstall all unwanted trash, that gave us Microsoft! But be careful to don’t destroy system even more ;)
