Microsoft has announced that Relatives and Families of the recent Mexico Earthquake disaster can make Free Skype Calls to and Landline and Mobile in Mexico to get information of their near and dear ones. The company has announced that the Skype Calls can be made free of charge till further notice is issued by the company.

Mexico was hit by a 7.1 magnitude of Earthquake and lot of buildings have collapsed resulting in loss of lives of many people including children. In the light of the communication system being effected and to help the relatives and families of the victims and loved ones in the affected area Microsoft and the Skype Team have enabled free domestic and international calls with immediate effect using the Skype service to know if they are safe.

The Skype Team in a statement said: “In light of the devastating earthquake that has taken place in Mexico — and the subsequent impact to the local communications infrastructure — domestic and international calls made via Skype to landlines and mobiles in the affected Mexico regions are free of charge until further notice. This is effective immediately; the list of area codes are below. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the earthquake. We hope this helps you reach loved ones, friends, and colleagues in Mexico,”

The team has also shared the list of eligible area codes given below for people to be able to make Skype calls without having to search for the area codes.

Mexico City: 55.
Morelos: 734, 751, 731, 735, 739, 737, 769, and 777.
Oaxaca: 995, 994, 972, 971, 958, 954, 953, 951, 924, 757, 287, 283, 281, 274, and 236.
