Kantar the Independent market analysis firm has last month confirmed that there are only two smartphone ecosystems iOS and Android ruling the Market after further fall of Windows Phone share.

This month the company further confirms the decline of Windows Phones across the globe and iOS and Android holding its ground in many markets. iOS which is the clear winner has its sales market share increased by 42% and its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus has remained the top selling smartphones.

Android sales though remained stable for most of the months and the device has gained market share from an already impressive 90% to 92.2% with a healthy increase in sale of devices from China’s Xiaomi and Spanish brand BQ.

The data shows that Android is the OS favored by most buyers with its share rising from 90.4% to 93.2% YoY, while iOS saw a very small decline of 0.3pp to 4.4% over the same period.

Curiously, sales of BlackBerry devices rose very slightly, increasing from a share of 0.3% to 0.4% YoY.
